Excited about the role of grazers in reef restoration and sustainable fisheries? Join our team at the Saba Research Centre (SRC), where you'll investigate the ecological and socio-economic status of potentially crucial grazing species: the Caribbean King Crab, West Indian sea egg, and West Indian top shell. These native grazers have the potential to control excessive algae growth on coral reefs, supporting coral reef recovery and potential sustainable fisheries. You'll conduct fieldwork to expand ecological baseline data and use interviews with local fishers and community members to uncover the socio-economic and cultural significance of these species. Your research will contribute to shaping future strategies for coral reef restoration and sustainable fishing practices. |
