Description | For this MSc thesis, you will travel through The Netherlands with a team of strip cropping researchers to sample insects in 20 different strip cropping farms. These farms differ greatly in design, having low or high crop diversity, narrow or broad strips and conventional or organic farming.
A key question to answer is: which elements in strip cropping are important for insect biodiversity? For example, do you need many different crops to boost biodiversity, or are just two crops enough? How do narrow strips of 3 meter compare to (more practical) 30 meter strips? And how do conventional strip cropping farms compare to organic farms? In addition, your own questions of interests can be incorporated. More information about strip cropping: https://weblog.wur.eu/spotlight/more-nature-in-fields-through-strip-cropping/ |
