| Description | Thesis/internship tbd
At NIOO, we are looking for a student that is interested in doing a thesis or internship at the Netherlands Institute for Ecology (NIOO-KNAW) in collaboration with the WUR. At NIOO we are working on a citizen science project (www.vangdewatermonsters.nl) about water quality in which volunteers learn how to measure water quality via a training or webinar. After the training they go into the field to measure a few water quality parameters: abundance of water plants, water clarity with a Secchi disc, they take a water sample to determine the nutrient content and with a dip-net they investigate the macro-invertebrates. However the macro-invertebrates are challenging for them turned out in the validation of last year’s campaign. We are looking into ways to improve this and want to do a full validation of that those new methods during this summer. That means we are looking for a student to help out with this and an interest in water quality, citizen science (meaning working with a lot of volunteers) and macro-invertebrates is desired. For a thesis preferred starting time is somewhere in April, for an internship preferred starting time is the beginning of May. |
