Description Reefy is an innovative startup in Delft that combines coastal engineering and marine biology to create nature inclusive marine infrastructure. We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive student to join our team.

We are seeking a Master's student to work on their thesis project with us. As a graduate intern, you will work on the following exciting research objectives.

1. Designing textures for concrete marine infrastructure that enhance the settlement of oysters, coral or other key target species, and provide habitat for small organisms to shelter and reproduce.

2. Monitoring the biological growth of marine organisms on these surface textures and comparing the effectiveness of different materials and surface textures in an experiment on a seawall in Yerseke in collaboration with NIOZ and at Rotterdam Reef Pilot project of Reefy in Rozenburg.

3. Monitoring the encrustation of crustose coralline algae on textures surfaces under different angles of waterflow and current velocities at Burger Zoo in Arnhem.

Our goal is to optimize our texture designs based on biotic and abiotic conditions. This research will contribute to the development of nature inclusive and resilient infrastructure projects of the future by working together with nature.

If you are interested please reach out to info@reefy.nl with your CV and motivation letter. Applications close on March 31st 2023.
