Description Brachycentrus subnubilis i is a rare trichopteran species in the Netherlands that disappeared in many parts of Europe the last century. Interestingly there are some recordings available (e.g. waarnemingen.nl) from the Netherlands. Like many trichopteran species, this species is strongly dependent on relatively cool and well oxygenated water making them also vulnerable to pollution and habitat destruction. New recordings are also available from a fishway, an environment where the species was not to be expected at first glance. This also indicates that not much is known about habitat preferences of this species. Through a laboratory study we want to increase our knowledge on this species and factors affecting its distribution.
