Description | Information on the probability distribution and variability of soil properties in a region can help to gain understanding of the soil’s current state. Generally, the normal distribution is adopted to represent possible values of soil properties in a certain area. However, this distribution is not always suitable and can lead to erroneous conclusions about the soil characteristics in a certain region. Other distributions, such as the gamma or lognormal distribution, might capture the distribution of a soil property better. In this project, you will explore which distribution, and related shape parameters, can be used best to represent a soil property in selected regions of the United States. |
