| Description | Nature organisations and policy makers aim to offer high quality nature experiences to the public, in order to contribute to the well- being of both people and nature. To do so, knowledge on the factors of nature areas that nurture these experiences is needed. Existing approaches have thus far not explained environmental preferences accurately and in a way that it can inform design. This project therefore presents an innovative approach to study nature-based recreation activities as social practices, addressing social and cultural influences on preferences for landscape characteristics. Qualitative ethnographic methods, including interviews and participant observations, will help to understand the multi-facetted context of these practices. |
