Description MSc students.

The Lined Seedeater Project is a long-term project in which we study the most exciting questions in behavioural ecology, animal behaviour, and evolutionary biology. To solve some long-standing puzzles we need longitudinal data, and through this project and an immense team of students and researchers we have years of data available to ask novel questions and design elegant experiments. The project takes place in Florestal/Minas Gerais, in southeastern Brazil. In this project you can either use the existing data or go to the field and execute your experiment/observations! We have a field station in which students can live during the period of their research in the field. If you are interested contact me for more information. Used skills *Statistics:
In all our projects we use the software R for statistics analyses. There are many myths and an unreasonable fear of using this versatile statistical tool. If you do not know how to use it we will teach you! The reasons we use R are very simple: (i) it is free and (ii) it is powerful.
*Teamwork: Once you�re part of our group you will never walk alone! Teamwork is crucial for science and you will be inserted in an exhilarating scientific atmosphere. We encourage you to engage in courses and to talk with your colleagues to solve puzzles from your project. We also organize periodic meetings during which we can discuss your project, explore a new paper together, or learn about a new statistical method.
*Scientific independency: Although no one can do science alone, a good scientist is expected to be independent enough to perform statistical analyses, develop predictions, formulate novel hypotheses, and design experiments. In our group you will be stimulated to become an independent thinker. This unique skill is not only essential in science but also crucial for any market.
