Description | Problem context
In the semi-arid region of Dodoma in central Tanzania, Justdiggit is implementing the Regreening Dodoma project. The project is focused on the application at scale of Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration. This creates local benefits for communities and the environment (www.justdiggit.org). MetaMeta Research carries out yearly data collection campaign to monitor and evaluate the impact of the project. In November 2020, MetaMeta Research will visit the project to measure a variety of biophysical and socio-economic indicators and it will need support of one committed intern. The foreseen tasks will include logistical support in organizing a team of enumerators, data collection of socio-economic data with e-surveys, vegetation monitoring with drone/satellite imagery, carbon stock measurements. The targets will be refined according to the skills and interest of candidates. Internship tasks - Logistical arrangements for the field data collection campaign (Netherlands) - Refine protocols and tools for data collection (Netherlands) - Support daily operations while conducting fieldwork in Tanzania - Water sequestration quantification (Optional) - Data processing and reporting What is expected from the student - Be part of the team working on the monitoring and evaluation of Justdiggit projects. - Work from MetaMeta’s office in Wageningen (2/3) and join the fieldwork in Tanzania (1/3) - Experience in developing countries and willingness to work on a tight schedule and at times in harsh environmental conditions - Basic knowledge of tropical agriculture - Experience in carbon stocks quantification and drone surveying are considered a plus - Good writing skills |
