Description | Project Description
Nevertheless microplastics characteristics and distribution are well-known in the aquatic systems. In the terrestrial environments it is not the case. Previous studies have shown that the microplastics can be carriers of pesticides. And microplastics can be transferred a long the food chain. In the Netherlands no information about this matter is present. Therefore studies are required for monitoring and determing the concentrations of microplastics in soil, soil invertebrates and vertebrates. The aim of the study is to determine the concentrations of microplastics in the terrestrial environment and a long the terrestrial food web in cities and nature reserves in the Netherlands. |
