Description | Farming systems in the Netherlands are being exposed to economic, social and environmental issues that challenge their resilience (the ability to manage change to keep on functioning). Policy responses are developed to enhance the resilience of farming systems to deal with these issues. However, policies can generate different effects than for what they were intended to have on paper. Moreover, multiple policies may interact and, to differing degrees, support or constrain resilience. One way to find out how these policies act out is by researching how stakeholders within Dutch farming systems experience the influence of policies on the resilience of their systems. |
Used skills | Qualitative research methods, bottom-up analysis, case study, desk research, interviews. |
Requirements | Capable of working autonomously; affinity with agricultural policy (e.g. EU’s Common Agricultural Policy) and governance debates; experience with using qualitative research methods; capable of speaking Dutch (interviews will be held in Dutch). |
