| Description | Safe Operating Space (SOS) is a relatively new concept that states that there are tresholds that should not be transgressed. Most ecosystems are influenced by a variety of simultaneously operating environmental factors. Frequently, those variables are interconnected and thus a safe boundary for one variable depends on the status of other variables. First attempts have been made to develop SOS for larger, iconic ecosystems. Could such a concept be applied to smaller regional ecosystems? |
