Description Biodiversity is an important topic in water quality management. Locally biodiversity can be stimulated by creating variability in environmental conditions. However, the spatial distribution of biodiversity in e.g. polders is rather unclear. Do there exist 'hotspots' of biodiversity, what is the relationship between the local biodiversity (alpha) and the regional biodivesity (gamma)? Both aquatic vegetation as well as macroinvertebrates could be topic of investigation.
