Description Start/end dates have some flexibility.

In collaboration with University of Jyvaskyla, Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences, Konnevesi Research Station.

Several possibilities including:

I) Experiment focused on how maternal stress (in response to predator odor or anti-predator cue) affects the behavior and performance of offspring.

II ): Structure and Aging of the direct (weasel odour) and indirect (odour of a scared conspecific, alarm pheromenes: Do the prey read the cue correctly? May involve measuring behavior of voles under fresh (predator near) and aged (predator not necessary present anymore) predator cue. At the same time it would be possible to compare the strength of the prey response towards anti-predator and compare it with weasel odor.

Used skills Basic lab techniques (pipetting), field work, behavioral observations, desk-top study, analysing data using R, etc.
Requirements Ideally should be available for fieldwork in late spring or early summer (May/June 2018)

Basic and/or advanced statistics (e.g., minimum Ecological Methods 1); familiarity with and interest in some basic laboratory techniques, travel to/fieldwork in Finland (University of Jyvaskyla, Konnevesi Research Station)
