Description European forests are important for wood production, environmental services, carbon sequestration etc. They fulfil many functions for the European society. Their dynamics are steered by both climate and forest management. Especially management is intense and diverse across Europe.
We are developing a new high resolution european forest resource model, based on extensive sets of national forest inventory data. The approach for the regeneration is not clear yet and needs to be conceptually developed. It also needs analysis of regeneration as a function of climate, soil and management.
