Description | There are numerous ideas, visions and objectives currently in place to adapt the water sector to climate change impacts. Most of these ideas are, however, hardly translated into substantive actions at the appropriate level. This could be due to the implementation deficit: strategic objectives formulated at high level governments are often not linked to local level policy making, and formulating strategic policy is often favored over policy execution.
More specific topics can include: - Ways to evaluate the implementation of adaptation in the water sector - Role of “lip service” and “symbolic policy making” - Value of strategic policy making - Role of reframing adaptation in water governance - Influence of strong-weak ties between levels of water governance Regions where research could take place: Europe (Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Germany) United States Comparative studies are encouraged |
