Description | The waterfern Azolla filiculoides lives in symbiose with Anabaena. Therefore, Azolla is able to colonize waters without nitrogen. Studies showed that adding nitrogen may enhance the growth of this fern. Unclear is which sources of nitrogen and in which combinations result in the highest growth. In a lab experiment this will be investigated. |
