Description Behaviour becomes increasingly important in eco(toxico)logical studies since it is a sensitive endpoint. Although different studies have been performed, little is known of the behaviour of benthic macroinvertebrates. Visual observations of behaviour (by the naked eye or videotaping) in combination with studying behaviour in the multispecies freshwater biomonitor may give insight in behavioural patterns. Behavioural patterns of different macroinvertebrate species can be studied in combination with fish cues and/or different contaminants like trace metals, personal health care products, micro and nanoplastics.
