Description internship at Wageningen Livestock Research – Animal Nutrition Department:

FAO aims to explore and navigate the regulatory complexities to foster the growth of the insect protein industry in Serbia and Türkiye.
The candidate with the support of a local consultant will conduct a comprehensive review of the current regulatory frameworks related to insect-based food and feed in Serbia and/or Türkiye. The candidates will start by identifying and thoroughly reviewing existing legislation related to food and feed safety in these countries. This involves a detailed examination of laws, regulations, and guidelines governing the use of insects. The candidate and the consultant will identify legal gaps where the current regulations are insufficient or outdated, particularly in addressing the nuances of insect-based products. The culmination of this effort will be a comprehensive report published by FAO that details the current legislative landscape and identifies areas needing further development.
